1. Why it is milky?
Before the invention of telescopes, people could not see the stars very clearly –
they were blurred together in a hazy white streak. The ancient Greeks called this streak a "river of milk". This is how our galaxy became known as the Milky Way.
2. That's big.....
The galaxies are spread over such unimaginable distances that even a space probe would take two billion years to cross our galaxy.
3. .....and getting bigger
The Universe is still expanding, so all the galaxies are moving farther and farther apart.
4. More of the same?
There might be other, parallel, Universes experts call these the multiverse.
5. Dark mysteries
We can't see everything in space. Experts think there's lots of mysteries "Dark Matter" between the stars.
6. How was moon look like?
Buzz Aldrin described the moon's surface as like nothing on Earth. He said it consisted of a fine, talcum-powder-like dust, strewn with pebbles and rocks.
7. Long Lived !
The Sun was born just under five billion years ago. Although it burns four million tons of fuel each second. it is so big that it will continue to burn for another five billion years.
8. The Leftovers
Scientists believe that asteroids are the bits and pieces left over after the formation of the solar system.
9. The Hottest and the Coolest.
Some stars shine red, others shine yellow or bluish white. A star's colour depends on its temperature. Red stars are the coolest, while the blue stars are the hottest. Fact: Lava reveals its temperature through its colour. Here, yellow lava is hotter than red.
10. Go away!!!
Woodpeckers delayed a space shuttle launch n 1995 by pecking the holes the fuel tank's insulting foam. Plastic owls are now used to frighten other birds away.
